About the Book
Reflections from the Pandemic-Hit Economy explores the far-reaching economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in an increasingly VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) world. The crisis shattered the belief that modern medical progress had made the world immune to such disruptions. It exposed critical gaps in institutional preparedness, particularly in developing countries. Sudden lockdowns disrupted supply chains, halted trade and travel, and caused widespread job losses, especially among informal workers and small businesses in the absence of social protection. This volume presents sixteen scholarly chapters from diverse academic disciplines, analyzing the immediate economic shocks and the long-term transformations sparked by the pandemic. It addresses regional and sectoral disparities, the limitations of fiscal responses, and the accelerated push toward digitalization. Blending empirical research with theoretical insights, the book offers a comprehensive understanding of pandemic-driven change and provides valuable perspectives to policymakers, researchers, and leaders striving for build resilient, inclusive, and future-ready economic systems.
