Theodore A Cutting was a Chemistry academician. He wrote Manual of Spectroscopy in 1949 because he strongly believed that spectroscopic instruments should be within reach of all who wish to analyse ores, minerals, alloys, and inorganic chemicals. Thus, he shared his knowledge combined with the latest literature of the time on the topic to create instructions for making effective spectroscopic instruments at low costs.
